I think they improved the props/spinners with the second issue, which I built under the Academy label. Bit like the Academy F86 Sabre - two kits, one's great, the other's passable.

A work in progress, the JU88 A-4. Lots of panel lines to do and more painting but getting there. What are those picket fences under the wings? type of air brake?

That's right Mike, dive brakes. These were normally stowed flat with the underside of the wing though. Also you'll have fun with the crosses under the wings which were partly painted on the brakes. Check out Wayne's 1/32 Ju-88 build in the MTO Group Build.

Looks good!

Looking good. However these seams on the fuselage should have been filled with a putty, sanded and polishing before painting.

Wurger, I usually do that second as the paint reveals more clearly what needs to be filled and sanded. I painted the fuselage halves while they were on the tree.
So I'm going to fill, sand and then repaint with the cammo scheme. so that seam will be gone and cammoed over

Yea, sometimes and even triple but I've also done it the other way and what looked good bare suddenly didn't with paint on. Think I did the seam on the B-29 4 or five times before I got it to the point I liked. It will get better

Looking good Mike, and I'm fairly sure that started life as the recently re-issued Hobbycraft kit, although perhaps with a few less parts. Built mine as an A5 in the BoB, with a home-moulded rear canopy.

painting got done on the wings and tailplanes of Air Force One. and yes, that is a new dropcloth you see on a new desk stepdad built for me.

masking looks beautiful on the DC-6 can't wait to get some chrome silver on her!

that looks pretty even to me. what do you think?

hehe thanks guys. the weather here in WA has been fantastic these past couple days (couldn't do it one day because of the wind all day) but I just had to get that done. heh I've got one more phase of paitning to do for AF1, and she'll be done with painting.

Rob, getting there and looking good.
Further progress on the JU88 A-4. Thanks to Rochie, and have my bombs, and thanks to Airframes I know how to paint them. Yellow band in the correct position I hope? Wurger, what do you think about the fuselage seam now? Looking better? Have a bit more to do. Still contemplating those picket fences and the Balkenkruse. Not sure how to approach it, thinking about a stencil as my best bet

Looking good Mike. The yellow stripes on the bombs should be between the fins, running fore and aft, from the joint of the fins to the bomb casing, back to the rear of the 'cone' where the fins attach.
The front of the engines should look like those in my model from the same o(originally) Hobbycraft kit, if you can make them out OK. The underside shot shows the crosses overlapping the dive brakes, with the cross repeated under the brakes.
Note the model is converted to the A5, is not finished, and is very dusty!
