More progress on my practice SBD. I used the Silhouette cutter to make masks for the wheel covers. Airbrushing the insignia white, applying the mask, then spraying the wheels black. Its a practice kit, so I'm building it out of the box, with all the toy features Monogram put in the kit 60+ years ago. I need to paint the white tail stripe over and try again, the mask bled too much. I still have all the small painting the airbrush can't do.

Under construction at the moment: Spitfire Mk. XIV
This one will be depicted as an aircraft from No. 610 Sq., during Operation Diver, June 1944.
For those who may not recognize that name, Operation Diver was the ADGB (Air Defense of Great Britian) sub-action that was organized to use fighters to intercept the V-1 Vergeltungswaffe.
Officially designated, Fieseler Fi 103, the V-1 was sometimes nicknamed Höllenhund (hellhound) by German crews....and called "buzz bomb" or "doodle bug" by the English.
Surprising fact - Germany launched approximately 20,000 to 25,000 V-1 flying bombs against Allied targets, primarily London and Antwerp, between June 1944 and March 1945. While over 30,000 were produced(!), roughly 10,000 were aimed at England, with a significant number failing or being intercepted.

The paint has been laid down and with some trepidation as to the scheme? The ASK decals showed what looked correct until you got to the R/side of the plane and then all of a suddenly the canopy went D.Earth and the camo did not line up with the L/side at all so I add hock.I think it came out looking pretty good thus far tons of shades for Azure blue go look went the darker it's what ASK showed? The livery will be S.African with the Gazelle up front L/side.I still have some PE on the tail and inside the canopy to do last things for sure. ;)
