What's wrong.....with todays music?

I spent yesterday fixing up a beater acoustic guitar I have. The saddle was busted and it couldn't hold strings, much less tune. I've got it 85% of the way home and looking forward to plucking strings on my porch this summer (I'm kinda bored playing electric right now).

No autotune, computers, Internet, or Facetime involved. Just fingers and wire and wood. That, my friends, is music.

and the modern sh one t is often "sung" with all the emotion of an dead stick.

Most of the time it's had the emotion processed out of it by computer effects.

For instance, at 3:00 in this song, Merry Clayton, who is absolutely singing her ass off pushing air, has her vocal cords give out for a split second and then she recovers to keep on singing a brilliant take.

Nowadays they would have either done a retake or used software to "fix" it. The Stones kept it in, and rightly so. Mick Jagger's so amazed you can hear him shout "whoa!" immediately after.

That sort of emotion will never be conveyed by computerized music.

Ever.
