Hello everyone, this is my first post! I thought I'd better start by posting something that we all want to know; which was the better dogfighter, the truly British Spit, or the all American Mustang? Posts like this have been done before, but I'm curious for the true answer.
Okay...
I was wondering if anyone out there could point me in the right direction I don't remember for sure where I heard about this. The more I think about it seems like a story my father told me when I was a teenager and me reading books about WW2 Planes. At any rate, my question is this : Did the RAF...
Here's a Tamiya 1/48 kit just recently finished. I decided to have a go at cutting and altering the wing flaps to add some interest as I planned to display the model 'in flight'. It was my first attempt at doing that so I was a bit nervous of the results I'd get. The kit went together very well...
Hi all, this is my 1st posting on this forum. Now for the harder part, what I need is the schematics of a spitfire! Preferably the fuselage and wings with dimensions, I’m learning (Solidworks a 3D program) and would love to do a Spitfire in 3D. Appreciations in advance, when finished I would...
I got a few sequences of these fine aircraft while visiting Deer Valley Airport in Phoenix to view the B29 FIFI.

I'd like to share a sound recording I made at RAF Hendon on the 12th September of a single Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
The recording is here.
To me, its sounds like a Griffon. Can anyone tell me which aircraft it is? I've tried a few image searches but nothing yet.
I have just got my hands on a Spitfire MKIXc 1:72 scale, i want to do the desert camouflage scheme but i want to use Tamiya colours. What colours should i use.
Thanks
I have read several brief mentions that the Hurricane was less expensive than the Spitfire.
Was it just that Supermarine charged more or was the airframe really that much more complicated to produce? The Hurricane seems more complicated with the cloth covered parts as compared to the...
I have recently got involved in an argument about the iron used to construct WW2 planes like Spitfires and Hurricanes in the UK. When Churchill became Prime Minister he installed press baron Lord Beaverbrook as the minister for aircraft production. It was Beaverbrook's responsibility to provide...
Hi everybody,
now that the forum is "malware free", I can start the work-in-progress of the above model.
First I must say that latest Tamiya kit i did was aprox 20 years ago and was this one
impressive, may be, but done exactly "out of the box" without even knowing about weathering etc...
