Great stuff.
It may be lens distortion, but it looks like the canopy rails have a very slight inward curve in them, towards the rear, which could cause the canopy to be difficult to open.
On the real aircraft, the rails are straight, standing proud from the line of the fuselage toward the rear, with the fuselage taper hidden by the way the fabric covering is arranged.
 
Yes I think your right. I'm going to use some stronger metal to bolt the rails to. I've also got the stub axles to finish fitting the main wheels
 
A little bit more done today. The canopy rails are now done and secure. The canopy slide albeit not easily but I think that's down to needing to grease the runners. The tail is made as far as I can go with the amount of metal I have including the small fillet from spine to tail

At6: Give it a go. It honestly isn't as hard as you would think. Thanks for all the love guys it actually starting to look like a plane now and not a pile of metal and wood.
Crimea river: I'm lucky as the museum I run is always on the look out for items to display. I'm going to have a go at a mustang B next
 
Always wanted to build a P-51B/C replica. Back in about 1969, a friend and I actually started to build one, but didn't get very far, as we both 'moved away' from 'home'.
The Bottisham Airfiled Museum Group are planning a full replica build, already having most of a P-51D cockpit.
I'll be interested to see how you go about making the prop spinner.
