And at last, some time in the workshop. A few organising and clean up jobs done but also a solid start on the main barrel of the Landing Lamp Control Unit. The OD is only 2.5" (63.5mm) and the inside is 2.4" (a hairs breadth under 61mm) Width is 0.7" (17.78mm), not including the endcap. A lot to do but happy to have started. The cutout paper handle was used to test the size of the black ball grip.













A small but not quick job... the locking tab for the endcap. Tab fixed with a 3/32 countersunk rivet.Outside shows the rivet dead centre but the inside view makes it look off..due to the rivet folding over a little..annoying but one of those things...At least when closed it looks centred.







And to finish the day and the weekend.. a harrowing job: Cutting the slot for the lever. I wasn't at all sure how the thin walls would stand up to the milling. In the end a very slow, very careful sequence of cuts and I avoided damaging the walls. The slot ended up a little longer than I would have liked (aimed for 83 degrees but ended up with 90 after the material "bit" and flexed a bit against the mill end. Oh well..I tried Ross! Next job will be to make the frame that attaches and holds the pneumatic unit. But that, like Tales of the Riverbank, is a story for another day.

I've also been working hard on developing the skills to do the wire edge on the mapbox which requires not only a rolled wire edge but for that edge to go around a 90 degree bend! You can see where the first attempt split. But the second went nicely! Now I just have to get the curve worked in for the "scallop"
