Oberleutnant Armin Faber FW-190A-3, On June 23 1942 Oberleutnant Armin Faber flew a specila combat mission in a FW-190A3 while asigned to JG 2. Flying this day with 7th Staffel, on an intercept of Bostons returning from a mission, 7th Staffel got into a dogfight with the Bostons escorts, 3 Chech RAF fighter squadrons (310, 312, and 313 Squadrons) and Faber was attacked by Sergeant František Trejtnar of 310 Squadron. In an effort to get the Spitfire off his tail he pulled an Immelmann and was bound into the sun, shooting down Sgt Trejtnar, who parachuted out and was rescued.
Disorientated after the fight Lt Faber thinking he was over the English Channel, when he was indeed over the Bristol Channel, flew north instead of south. Thinking he was home he landed at RAF Pembery waging his wings in a victory celebration.
Thus an intact FW-190 was captured on this day and the Allies now had the most potent adversary intact and in hand.

Nice one Don - I was wondering if someone would do this particular aircraft.
Must have been very embarrassing for Faber at the time :-
Faber - "Guten tag, Kamaraden, ein 'Tommy' ich habt bekam diese tag!"
Duty Officer, Pembry - "Shut it, Fritz, and gettin ze out of the aeroplane!"

Yep !
This incident provided a heck of a lot of info and insight to the then new Channel menace - had Faber managed to escape and get home, he would have been in deep sh** for losing a new Fw-190.
BTW, I think his Christian name was Arnim, not Armin.

Thank you all, I've been guilty of working and not taking photos so here is a catch up. The photos are from A Fw-190 A-8 from the Texas Air Museum I took a few years back out in San Antonio at Stinson airport. As I understand it this was sold and it in restoration to flying condition in Virginia or somewhere out east. Anyway I am using it for basic color and orientation. Oh and I have more of both the A-8 and Fi-103 in the back ground if anyone should want or need them.

Fuselage and cockpit are done. I feel bad that I did not do more but I will try and add a throttler and seat belts. other then that it look pretty close to the photos int he books I have.
