I gave it to him today, and he loved it! As it turns out, his father served in the RCN on the HMCS Prince David, which I did not know at the time of purchase, so he really appreciated that it was a Navy plane.
Thank you sirs. I will be getting a F4U-1D (Tamiya again, it was so great), and that one will be overall DSB so it will be nice and easy to paint, and I can do it post construction. The reason I did this plane like I did was that there are 3 different colours. It was just much easier to be able to paint the Sky on the bottom and the Grays on the top separately.
Amazing model. You should sumbit the pictures of the finished product to the Fine Scale Modeling Magazine. My father put a F4U together in Pacific markings, it was a 1/32 kit and it came out really well too. But yours is the best I have ever seen. I especially like the camoflague on it, how did you do that? Did you spray a base color and then go over it with a secondary?
