Here is some progress pics on my 1/48 Tamiya P-51B i been working on for the last four weeks. This is my favorite 1/48 tamiya kit to build. I am using the mr color paints on the interior . The Kits Instrument panel i used the air scale dial decals and the waldron punch set. Then several drops of futute for the dial lense .
Model was wet sanded with Tamiya 3000 grit sanding spunge. No primer will be used under the metal paint. The wings , rudder , elevator and alieron trim tabs was painted with Tmiya LP-11 gloss aluminum. The fuseloge , tail wings , ailerons landing flaps and underwings fuel tan panels was painted with mr color super metallic super fine silver .
On to paing the Blue which is very easy for me as i havce done alot of time. I cut a thin stripe of tamiya tape to mask the demarcations then build up the mask to not over spray.. I used the Mr color bright blue.
Great job with the NMF, Brian. Everywhere I read says that you should do a gloss black base coat first. Just goes to show you can still get a great finish without it!
NMF still scares me to death however . Will keep watching your progress with interest.
Spent the last few days painting the lat of the exterior parts. Sing stripes painted Tamiya LP-5 semi gloss black . Wheel wells painted and ingear door painted with mr color zinc. I masked off thge gear dooe and sprayed the metal section with mr color supoer metallic super fine silver. Next to spray gloos coat and get some decals on her
Last of the decals installed. I started to add the stenle but was having isses with them being old decals . Next up gloss coat before wash in wheel well .
