Kit: North American P-51D Mustang
Manufacturer: Airfix (New Tool)
Scale: 1:72
Subject: NA P-51K Mustang Mk.IVa, CV-A (KH676); No.3 Sqn. RAAF, Cierva, Italy 1945.
Accessories:
Pavla 1:72 P-51K propeller
Airfix markings (1980's P-51K boxing)
Minor scratchbuilding.

A trip down memory lane... the first WW II aircraft I ever built (1984) was Airfix's 1:72 P-51D/K, after much nudging from my dad. I had only built modern jets and Star Wars things before then.
Managed to aquire the same markings via E-bay last year, to do a new build for him to thank him for the addiction :)
(Decided to go new tool, as there's just no point - nor time - to correct an original boxing again, as I did a few years ago.)

Will post blurb on subject shortly, and pics of kit/ decals - bath time for my son now! :)

Always the responsibilities...

Cheers for the comments guys. Attached pics of the base kit and decals.

Paintscheme will be the 'Firewall' scheme' based on info from the following website. Some great photos and info there too.

G'day guys,

A very belated 'cheers' for the comments!

To be honest, these GBs are heartbreaking. I want to join in with yas so much, and actually complete something in the alloted time, but I find it impossible to do so, especially now with my son and working permanent graveyard shift. Trying to find a solution...

This build is no exception. So far I have only managed to seperate most (not all) parts off the sprues, and chop out the lower cowl for a resin piece with cast louvres. (Pics up when camera batteries are charged).

Next step will be superdetailing the cockpit, but I know already I don't have a snowball's hope in Hell of completing this for the deadline.
I hope you will be patient and continue to follow this as and when I can get something done.

Cheers,
Evan

Cheers guys, much appreciated indeed!

Not much to show, but this is the progress on the nose. Will need to be worked a little for a snug fit, possibly some filling.
