Two guys that built bikes for a living decided it would be a jolly good thing to invent something that would eventually lead to this here forum !

Yup, the Wright Brothers wrote history when they achieved the first heavier than air flight.

Back in 2007 when Tony and I went to the GOML 2007 event, we stopped over at Dayton to have alook at the USAF Museum and when we discovered that the Wright Brothers cycle shop was only about 3 klicks away, we had to visit and pay our respects.

It was a rather damp day but that didn't detract from the experience. It was very interesting to see the bicycle bits 'n' bobs on display and the workmanship and thought that had gone into them. The same also goes for the Flyer and its engine and the whole thought process these two guys had gone through to achievbe what they did.

We did the obligatory tour and watched a few films on the way. Then we ganged up on a Trooper who we managed to convince that they really needed to take our piccie outside the building. Bless her, it was 'hoofing' it down at that time but she just said 'Sure', put her hat on and marched out into the middle of the road to taker the snap. And do you know what, she was actually, genuinaly interested in her job as a guide and very knowledgable she was to. Respect !

I remember seeing that place as a kid. It looks like it has expanded a bit since then. Nice stuff, Gary.

Excellent shots Gary!!!:thumbright: Sounds and looks like you all had a blast. And most of the officers in the U.S.A. are really good at there job. It is the few bad apples I can't stand.

Great pictures. Thanks for posting them. Happy birthday, Powered Flight, and happy birthday to me, because I was born on this date (no, not in 1903!), and grew up next to an airport. Seems I was destined to have aviation as an interest and a hobby.
