I know, we see this a lot in cricket which has a similar system. If the ref gives a penalty then the VAR refs will look to see if he has made an obvious error that is Is it reasonable to allow the penalty kick. If he doesn't award a penalty then VAR will look for an error the other way.
Me too. The game against Tunisia left me bloody annoyed, and i would have been (expletive) angry!, had it not been for the late winner. But the Panama game was much better. We were ruthless and im sure it would have given the players a lot of confidence. Just need to remember to keep their feet on the ground and not become complacent. But im sure Southgate will have told them that. Im a long suffering Aston Villa fan so i know Southgate wel from his playing days at villa. But yes the real acid test is the Belgium game. I was looking at the stats earlier and both teams are very closely matched. I would be happy with a draw tbh. To be fair, while panama was very weak, England wasted no opportunity to grab that chance. THere was nothing wrong with that performance. I'm really looking forward to the game against Belgium. I'm very curious who's the better of the two.

True, but from what i have heard the England players want to finish top of the group. And im not going to argue with that. It shows pride and passion to be the best. Plus Southgate was coy to announce any major changes. Personally i think it would be wrong. If a team is performing well then why tinker. The old adage, if it aint broke dont fix it. I wouldnt be surprised to see one or two changes but i think it would be better to keep the momentum going.
It is probably an advantage to finish second, the game could be the ultimate dead rubber where both teams are trying to lose. At the moment Belgium are ahead on "fair play" rules, to finish second needs a loss or a draw with two more yellows or a red more than Belgium. It wont be the first "anti-football match.

When they announced that Sane (Man City) wasn't going, I thought it must be some team to leave him out, well he should have been there. Maybe kept too many of the older generation in the team, it is generally a young mans game.

Not seen the Brazil game, i have not seen what Naymar brings to Brazil apart from diving and rolling around faking injuries
The usual rolling about and theatre but he was dispossessed a few times and missed a lot of great chances. My wife is a Liverpool fan so Coutinho is "one of my boys". Naymar will take over from Ronaldo as the player everyone wants to screw up. She was laughing her head off. At times he is a genius he just gets on my wires.
Considering the two teams England and Belgium will be playing in the knockout stages i dont really think it matters all that much. I mean, it's either going to be Japan, Senegal or Columbia. No disrespect to those teams but i'll take any of them at this stage. I'd prefer to avoid Senegal, but it certainly could be worse considering some of the fixtures in other groups. Least Eng v Bel will be a good test for both sides. But this has to be one of the most entertaining world cup finals i've seen in a while. Right now it's almost impossible to predict a winner.
