I agree about the cost. The B-17 is very much on my wish list! But barring a lottery win or previously unknown wealthy relative that dies and leaves me as the heir it will not be entering the workbench any time soon.
It is a shame when an otherwise decent kit falls down on some details. Because of course they tend to stand out just because of their lack in comparison to the kit. Another site I follow had some of the same reservations with the Mosquito that you pointed out. And they too were dismayed especially in light of the cost of the kit.
Yes... and no. Revell makes some very nice 1:32 kits at a small fraction of the cost of these. However can't argue that they tend to take up a lot of space.
Last I checked, Tamiya's P-51D was selling for well over $200 CDN in my LHS. Nice to see Revell giving them a run for their money. I'm not sure there is a full engine in in this one but I'm pretty sure that it will be very reasonably priced.
I notice there are two different pilot's seats, one of which looks like the earlier type used in the P-51B/C.
I wonder if Revell intend to follow this with a B/C version ?
