Yeah, I've seen decals for the lozenge patterns but not this. If it's hand done (and looks to me like it is), he's done a great job.

It looks good for sure Andy if it's hand painted .I have painted some intricate patterns on some 1/72 in the pass and from my experience you need to do it in one sitting for me at least.I did one Japanese plane 1/2 one day came back to do the other side and it was different and it seemed it depended on my mood .After that I did 1/72 all in one sitting and they have been fine.Cheers

Not sure about the type, but markings of the rudder suggest it's Austro-Hungarian Navy aircraft.
