I don't think it is so much leftist governments since there are plenty who are pro-ukraine and providing military support. Rather there are some misguided ones who are anti what they would class as imperialist/colonial (e.g. USA, UK etc) and then play into the theme of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" style thinking. It isn't quite that clear cut/strong but I hope you get what I mean. You see it is Africa too. The likes of Russian/Chinese propaganda plays a part as well.Unsurprising given Lula position leaning towards Moscow.
I don't why leftist goverments think that a proPutin or neutral view in this war is ok.
Putin's body double goes out and meets the crowd. If there's an assassination attempt, the FSB lets it succeed. The FSB gets the killer and the real Putin gets out of dodge, Hague free.

If you're laying land mines in your own country, what difference does it matter? Surely a nation needn't concern itself with what HRW think?Human Rights Watch reports new evidence of Ukrainian use of banned landmines
Human Rights Watch says it has found new evidence of the indiscriminate use by Ukrainian forces of banned anti-personnel landmines against Russian troops.www.abc.net.au

Than where was she during the Syrian war or the ongoing conflicts in Africa (including the cobalt mining that's an environmental disaster)? She is obviously there to help bring attention to a serious issue that will have to be addressed in the future - that of the environmental consequences of the war and what will be required in the future. I know some people feel threatened by her but she is well recognised globally for her environmental activism which helps bring appropriate focus to this issue. Comments such as those above are just pathetic.

I have no doubts at all that the AFU will be far more circumspect about who, what and where they target. Ukraine tries to preserve the lives of its citizens. Russian leadership, however, has shown extreme disregard for life, human or Russian. If you're laying land mines in your own country, what difference does it matter? Or at least made the effort. It's hard to remember you are there to drain the swamp when you are up to your neck in alligators. And you can bet your life that Ukraine has mapped those minefields so they can clear them safely after the Russians are gone.
No, many land mines are artillery fired and will be time consuming to find. And you can bet your life that Ukraine has mapped those minefields so they can clear them safely after the Russians are gone.

China plays the long game. While China may be able to get Putin to start negotiating, I doubt they'll be able to convince Ukraine to lay down arms after the last fourteen months. Unless and until China can deliver that, this probably won't go anywhere.
