It's kinda like making a long shot with a rifle. Slow methodic breahing and become comfortable, then, at the bottom of a breathe squeeze the shutter button and POW, you have a photo. I have quite a few UNUSABLES to.

Speaking of long shots, well.......for me it was long. 175 yards with a 22-250 with a LockT round in the earhole on a groundhog. My boss was impressed. I really like this little rifle.

Hey Aaron, are "The Channels" close to the Creeper trail? And are they publicly accessible? After showing the wife, we both think it'd make a great day trip.....if its not too far.

Derek, they are off of Rt. 80 on top of Clinch Mountain. From 80 it is a 2.5 mile hike. And it is over private property. I am trying to get a group together so I can see about getting permission. You can go in on the new Brumley Gap trail but it's 14 miles one way. I will let you know what I find out about getting permission and pass the Ph# on to you.

Vic, the shots in the Channels, were all shot at 5.O to 3.5 F/stop and 1/125 down to 1/4 of a second on shutter speed. And I left my tripod in the Jeep by accident.

Now I'm really impressed! ¼ shutter, freehand. Wow.

Having just got a tripod I've yet to find something worth setting up for, it's a bit cold and bleak here this time of year. Am also hanging out for a camera remote cable which I'm hoping to pick up in Singers in about 6 weeks.

Vic, you might try Amazon.com. I have found things like that on there at a rather decent price. I think a remote with cord for mine is about $6.00 to $10.00 .

Amazon is like the world's largest shopping mall. I finished all my holiday shopping in 45 minutes last year from there and didn't have to fight the crowds and mobs looking for a place to park. 8)

My Friday was LONG. Got up at 2 A.M. and went to work. Got off work at noon and went to Thunder Valley and stayed there until 9:40 P.M. . I did get some decent shots though. Still learning how to shoot in low light with cheap lenses. Eric, I'm still working on a watermark.

Thank you Hugh and Merv. They turned out a lot better than expected. It was a bit of a challenge once it got dark but I ran the ISO up to 800 and did fare.
