The Dean Martin Roasts and Monday Night Football were the only shows that we were allowed to stay up and watch after bedtime as kids. Imo the Roasts they do today pale in comparison to these old gems.
Thought I would start with the Roast of Ali in 1976.

Seeing how Parkinson's has ravaged Muhammad Ali's body recently it is easy to forget he was once a very talented and witty individual away from the boxing ring. Billy Crystal who was an unknown at the time of this Roast has a great skit in this show. He was so unknown that he isn't even mentioned in the opening credits as one of the guests on the dais. Freddie Prinze is one of the members of the dais too.
