There are decals in the kit Mike, but they are a straight lighter yellow, and need to have a hint of red in the yellow, they wouldn't match the painted wing IFF stripes so both are painted, probably have to do some hand painting touch ups to the tail codes to match them up too...
Thanks guys, the fuselage masking went off without a hitch Mike, using 1mm wide masking tape for the border of each yellow stripe, they went around the curve i needed rather well then I filled in the centre of each with wider cut strips.
