I'm guessing it looks the part, and the second pic shows better contrast - but the pics make it look slightly 'bleached' and bluish grey, but I'm sure that's the lighting (or flash?).
Looks great Karl. Like you, I have recently given up black paint and now use Tamiya XF-85 Rubber Black, XF-69 Nato Black or XF-63 German Grey as replacements
A good colour to tone down black if you do use it further George is XF-19 Sky grey drybrushed lightly in a couple of passes....I also use the same colours you mentioned...
so before heading out with the dog this morning i gloss coated the Dornier.
i am off upstairs in about 10 minutes to add the decals with the plan of going over the ones on the sides and underneath in black paint using a small make up application sponge stolen from a face painting set my wife bought for a Halloween party she went to dressed as a witch !
(my joke of "when you getting changed then ?" as she came down in full costume did not go down well at the time !)
this will hopefully simulate the crude over painting of the insignia shown on Kg 2 Do217's as in the picture on page one of this thread.
