Nearly finished the cockpit tub. I used decal seat belts and I wanted to give them some 3D effect so I cut a thin film of plastic and set the seatbelt decals on the plastic. I then used a new scalpel blade to cut them out. Not sure I have done the right thing but the lid is going to be shut so won't be too much to notice.

Dry fitted the completed cockpit unit into the fuselage and oof its a tight fit. I think I need to shave the upper edges of the cockpit side walls down, I will have to be careful or the shaved edges will show. It all seemed to fit before gluing the seat bulkhead in place so its possible I was pushing the sidewalls of the tub in slightly. On the bulkhead there are 2 locating pins with sockets on the fuselage sides I could shave the sockets down but I am worried that I might throw the wing location out.

Much frowning, staring and bald spot scratchingis needed.

Just noticed that the nose wheel bay is not quite sitting straight. I have the suspicion that when I painted it in aluminium some of the paint got on a locating shelf and is stopping it clicking into place. In the morning I will remove some paint and see if that cures it.

Got the cockpit to fit. It was a combination of shaving a tiny amount off the sides of the seat bulkhead and scraping off some paint that had got onto a mounting surface in the wheel well.

I have crammed as much lead in and around the cockpit as I can plus extra lead on the fuselage floor

Making lead and black tack sausages to cram under the cockpit floor
