Applied a coat of grey primer as a witness coat.

I have changed my mind about the colour scheme I was going to do it as a 616 squadron in Germany right at the end of hostilities. I am now going to do it in the overall white of early 45 when stationed in Belgium. Not got a great deal of experience working with white so should be interesting.

Test fitting the legs. I am now getting seriously worried about the amount of lead that's hidden in the fuselage.

Today i saw on ebay a few meteors in just after the war. Think they are 616. Together with a few Typhoons.

Coat of white with a few drops of grey primer mixed in to make an undercoat. Next coat will be pure white.

White and yellow paint is so horrible to use. It feels like painting with fog. 3 coats and it's still not covering very well.

Large ares of silver can be tricky too.

For white and yellow i base coat with deck tan but still takes multiple coats.
I dont think I'd try doing a whole model in white or yellow, though i have a 1/48 Tornado in the stash and the subject i will do has the fin and rudder painted white !

Deck tan what colour is that I am assuming a very light brown.

Yes bit darker than an off white, will post pick when i get home

I shall look for some of that but a lot of Vallejo paints seem to be out of stock or low stock at the moment. Probably in a queue at Calais. My usual supplier has at least half the Model Air and even more of the Model Colour out of stock.

Fourth and even fifth coats in places and I seem to be getting somewhere.

I have Muckied up the legs and u/c bays with some Humbrol satin black.
