Ok, while it is a side show to the A-1 build, I have completed the Fw190D-9 in time for the comp this weekend.

The subject is White 2 from 9/JG54 flown by Lt. Fritz Bartak on the 15th October 1944. Bartak as part of a 6 aircraft Airfield protection flight, was bringing up the rear when the group was set upon by a large formation of P-47's. White 2 was the first to be hit and Lt. Bartak bailed out of his stricken Dora, almost immediately the aircraft he was following was hit and went on to crashland, both pilots survived the attack, the other 4 were not so lucky, all were pursued and shot down and their pilots killed. 4 of these pilots including Bartak were on their first operational mission....
White 2 had the unfortunate honour of being the First recorded operational D-9 loss.

Definitely a cracker and I will be looking out for it along with the 88. Question though if I may or more clarification. The aerial is seen slack as the cockpit hood is open, now I have seen this on photos but have also seen it very tight and rigid even with the hood open. Are both ways acceptable or would it be reflected on what the mark of machine is.
