Takeoff at 22:58 hrs for an operation to Mannheim in Germany.

Oberleutnant Friedrich 'Fritz' Gutezeit, Staffelkapitän of the 6./NJG 1 and his Funker Unteroffizier Januschewski intercepted homeward-bound 7 Sqn Stirling W7520 over Brustem.
The aircraft exploded plunging burning wreckage into the Bf 110 E-1 coded G9+HP. The two aircraft crashed at Brustem killing both crews.

Ein mal verwundet, als Feldwebel der 9./NJG2 bei feindlicher Bordwaffenbeschuss auf Ju 88 G-1 "4R+CP" der Oblt. Brinkhaus am 25./26. Juli 1944 über Linz.

DidI mention survivor? Shot down strafing Asbach airfield, a mission my father was leading on April 8, 1945. Bailed out, and was captured by SS. When he suurendered his 1911 to the SS Colonel, the bastard shot him in the guts after telling Cullerton "For you the war is over' - and lft him to die.

A Jewish doctor rescued him and treated him in his attic until over run by US infantry -

Bill flew west around 2015 IIRC.
