Fighter Operational Clasp KIFA 17 April, 1945 when on a mission near Lake Schwerin, he flew right into the mirror-clear water. An AC, identified as the D-9 of Karl Fröb, was discovered in 1990, and the body was assumed to be Ostrowitzki, the only known missing D-9 pilot to have crashed in Lake Schwerin. One known victory, his 5th, a P-51 at Tangerhütte-Burg on 11 April, 1944. His 6th, a B-17 SE of Reuden on 29 April, 1944. A 7th, a B-24 N of Paris on 6 August, 1944. Magnus Report.
