Stanley Hooker, only a great engineer would be remembered as 'not much of an engineer'. Let's also not forget Sergei Korolev, father of the Russian space programme in the Cold War, Andrei Tupolev, and those who led the plagiarism of the B-29 and the subsequent impact that had on the Russian aviation industry - it took real skill to do what Tupolev achieved with what the Russian industry was capable of at the time, although there's nothing like a Stalinst deadline imposition to spur the work force on!
