The subject of this GB is the IJN "M6A1 seiran generally as intended to be carried by the I400 class submarines in their attack on the panama canal, This was an audacious plan by the IJN in the dying days of the war, but was eventually cancelled. as a plan it reflected very nicely the unreality of the japanese high command. but it does not reflect the technical excellence of this aircraft, which has been the subject of many models over the years.
This was my second build for this GB, and at all times it was a "time permitting" project. What saved this build was the kit, Tamiya make a really good product, and this kit had no real vices. Everything just went together nicely, and that saved a heck of a lot of time.

The painting of this model represented some new challenges and compromises for me. i wanted to experiment with panel line applications, and also wanted to apply the top coat somewhat unevenly. i had one attempt, that showed these elements up fairly well, but the colouration just didnt end up as it should. This is the second attempt, which still retains a certain patchiness and translucence as well. i dont know how well its been done,but its th first time ive attempted any of these techniques
