Glad to see you got it joined eventually Don.
I'll probably have the same problem on my B-24J kit, to be built as a 'H' model, as one fuselage half is badly warped towards the tail. I got a replacement part sent by Revell Germany, but then noticed the opposite side also had a slight warp !!

I did not have a warp issue with mine Terry (I have two Ds and a J) but the wing mate is two prongs that go through both fuselage sides on one side and a single center prong that goes through from the other side. This makes for a great strong fit, but at least in my case it also makes for a "I don't want to go through that hole" fit fight on mine. I had to file the the opposite sides hole in the wing shoulder mount and also the end of the prongs. Also as is the case often all the interior goodies may not have aligned just right. I have had a time getting the glue to set with the stresses involved. I used some thin plastic rod as needed to get the mating process accomplished.

I'm sorry to see what you're going through with your B-24, but I'm sure you'll be able to get ahead.

I have the same Revel kit and did the other version it brings (Consolidated B-24D-20-CO, 98th Bombers Group, 343rd Bomber Squadron, Brindisi, Italy, auf "Bond Tour in den USA, Winter 1943)
In my thread (S to F), I had the advice and incredible images of the friends of the forum that helped me to solve the adversities with which I came across this old Revell kit ... and those that you still have missing to find!

Consolidated B-24D LIBERATOR; 1/48 Revell

I hope I can help you and ask us about any questions.

And by golly I think you've hit her on the head. I noticed some of that when I mated them together but I thought I had got it aligned. I guess not as well as I thought. BUT I FORCED IT TO CONFORM TO MY WILL ANYWAY, AHAHAHAHAHA, oh sorry.

Yeah I know it looks like, or for that matter IS a lot of putty, but due in large part to my own mistake, I had a lot of filing to do and with dips and bows going on and just not wanting to stay glued. I filled it all in and let the sandpaper clear it out.
