OK, following is a list of DRAFT theme descriptions for you all to review/approve/suggest changes. Keep in mind that this exercise will NOT be used to fundamentally change the voted-on themes but to make sure that we have defined the scope of each theme to give as much clarity as possible and to avoid disputes and varying interpretations. These are in no particular order yet so don't get too verklemmt about that - we'll sort that out in the next step. Here we go.
Carrier and Maritime Aircraft - All Eras
Includes aircraft of any era that were based from aircraft carriers, launched from other ships, as well as seaplanes, floatplanes, and land-based aircraft used for maritime patrol, attack, rescue, and reconnaissance activities. Multi-role land-based bombers such as the Ju-88 or Liberator can be entered IF the markings carried by the entry represent a specific aircaft that can be proven to have been used in the maritime patrol, attack, rescue, or reconnaissance role.
One Trick Pony
This Group Build is for any aircraft of the "Mustang family" including prototypes, the A-36, P-51, and the F-82. Heavily modified post-war racers are included.
Stormy Weather
This Group Build includes aircraft of any era whose code-name or nickname is a word associated with a weather phenomenon. Fury, Tempest, Thunderbolt, Sturmvogel, and Hayate, are all examples of acceptable entries. Fictional or What-ifs are not allowed (sorry fans of the Thunderbirds TV show). Aircraft carrying weather-themed nose art or personal markings can also be entered provided that the scheme actually existed and is not fictional.
Aircraft with no Propellers
This Group Build will be for any aircraft kept in the air by anything other than propellers. Jets, rocket-powered aircraft, and gliders are included. For this theme, helicopter rotors are considered propellers and so helicopters will not be allowed. This category covers any era of aviation but excludes conceptual designs and spaceships.
Zombie Build
The theme of this Group Build is to resume and finish any aircraft model that was started and abandoned, whether in a previous GB or not. The model must be an aircraft but can be any type representing any time frame. For the benefit of those "few" who are genetically predisposed to finish what they started, and who therefore have no started-but-unfinished kits, this GB will be open to include any aircraft model that has not been started.
Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO)
This Group Build is for any military aircraft of any nation involved in the WW2 Pacific Theatre of Operations between 1937 and the fall of Japan in 1945. The arena is large and can include the China/Burma/India (CBI) theatre, the Pacific and Indian Oceans, the Bering Sea, South Pacific, and SW Pacific areas. Land theatres and battles in the region (Dutch East Indies, New Guinea, Guadalcanal, Aleutian Islands, etc.) are also included.
Spitfires
This Group Build will be for any aircraft of the Supermarine Spitfire family serving in any role in any era. Seafires are included. The Supermarine S.6, Spiteful, and Seafang can be considered part of the family.
Night Fighters
This theme includes aircraft of any era used in the night-fighter role. Bombers operating at night are excluded, unless the subject is a bomber that has been converted to a fighter (e.g Ju88 or Do217). The entry can be an aircraft specifically designed for the role (e.g. He-219 or P-61) or one that was adapted for it (e.g. Bf-110, Beaufighter). The entry must reflect the aircraft as it was used in the night-fighting role (for example, a Bf-110 in Battle of Britain markings is not allowed).
Everyone, please have a look at the above and provide any feedback by this coming Sunday. After that, an order will be determined and I'll post the new schedule next week.

only question i have concerns night fighter build.
i have a couple of Bf 109's of Jg300 used in wildsau role, hoping these will qualify ?

Jg 300 was a night fighter group flying Bf 109 and Fw 190 aircraft, not all were equipped with radar and relied on GCI for their intercept. As stated in the GB if it's done as a night fighter than it's in.

I am struggling to critique or improve the wording/content of the various categories. It all looks good and self explanatory. Will the GB's run in the order listed? Looking forward to each one, and I'll enjoy picking potential entries and possibly looking at some purchases for the future builds.

Well, I kind of lied. Close inspection of my unorganized stash uncovered potentials for all GBs except for the no-prop and the Spitfire.
Unless I can find something 'really' interesting in the no-prop potentials, I'll probably be sitting that one out.
Spitfires??? Only have built one, and it was a 1/72 Airfix Mk.Ia (Spitfire Mk.Ia) . Looking at the kits out there, and reading on the evolution history, I have to wonder; were there ever two of the same type in the air at the same time? Wow, there sure are a lot of those Mk's! For a Spitfire novice, any suggestions on MK.??? choices to populate a stable with?

Yes, I think JG300 machines are clearly within the scope whilst operating in the Wilde Sau role but not when they switched over to day ops.
I will leave this up to the group to decide. Personally I don't like this kind of theme but if the majority agrees, we can allow it. The scope of this GB is huge so I see little need to expand it, personally.

When is "the time"? If we look at the "questionable entry" now we can add wording to inlcude it if it fits.
