Actually there was .. but seen only if the cockpit hood was slided back. The rail was at the top of the door making one line with the rear rail when the door closed.

Meant in the kit, sorry for the confusion.

Yes correct. The headrest for Hurricane was added for the Sea Hurricane both the Mk.IA and Mk.IB But the land variants of the Hurrcane didn't have that.
