For my second GB, I'm doing another option from the Lifelike sheet. This aircraft was used by Capt. "Don" Gentile during a state-side war bounds tour, at Wright Patterson Field, 1945. Note this has rocket stubs, different tires and a different propeller. Andy Crimea_River has graciously offered me the props and I found rocket stubs in the spares box

Ok,.. this is the second option on the Lifelike sheet

Imma gonna change the shade of Interior green a bit as I need to spray a few other parts, this time using Tamiya Yellow Green and black

Because of the model number, the wheel wells are good to go. I've read that the inside of the gear doors was also now YZC but can't confirm. There is a colour picture of the aircraft and you can kinda, sorta, almost make out YZC on the right gear cover but I'm not positive.

As stated in the first post, the tires are different on this aircraft which Tamiya doesn't include. I was looking through on of my Testors P-51s to see if it had the different propellers that I need and looky what I found. I don't even remember buying these

Thanks guys. Still looking for gear door info but in the meantime I've been trying a few things. A while ago I bought metal primer. I'm going to add some P.E. here so I thought I would give it a try. Instruction say a couple of thin coats and then paint; coat two was just added.

Some time in the way back when, I bought a bottle of Pledge with "Future like shine" so I did the wheel wells. This stuff seems to be thinner than Future and spreads very nicely. I used one coat here but two may be needed for decal purposes. Anyhoo....I also tried my latest Future/Citadel mix. I can't tell you the exact mix as I kept adding and testing as I went along. What I can tell you is I almost filled a Tamiya mixing bottle, maybe ¾, and in the end almost a full jar of Agrax Earthshade and I really like the results more subtle than I'm used to

I'm going to get some more of these Tamiya bottles and mix up some more Tamiya/Citadel washes, three more shades I think

Cool. Not sure what makes the metal primer different than their normal grey surface primer. The latter is lacquer based and sticks well to PE in my experience.

Not sure Andy. My "local" hobby shop has a very limited selection and I take what I can. Reviews are good depending where you read it and others use the grey primer which my LHS doesn't have. I'll be sure to give a review as I have never used a primer on P.E.

A great gift arrived from Andy Crimea_River today, the correct propellers for this kite. Pretty impressive considering there was a mail strike and Christmas backlog to clear up. Also included was a nice Xmas card, very thoughtful. I can't recall the last time I received a card, not in this century. Thank you Andy I have two options to mount these as they are different from Tamiya. Grind out the rear part of the spinner or just cut at the red lines and do a little shaping. Guess which route......

On the primer front, It's working very nicely with Tamiya. Paint went on nice and smooth, no going over it as usually happens

Looks like they arrived safe so that you can butcher the crap out of them now Christmas cards? Yeah, I've got a hundred of them in a box and needed something stiff to hold the envelope so I thought it would be appropriate.

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Very nice project and very nice start
I just noticed that you are lucky enough to have the decals that I think are the best for my project I had not noticed this on your previous build, it seems that I had missed your first post on the subject .
This decal sheet is impossible to find in France, I know that we can find this marking in the Eduard boxing kit P-51B dual combo R0019, for my part, I'll work with a mix of Superscale, Tamiya and Kits World decals...

Finally something new to show. Used the P.E. braces on the seat. They are higher on the back of the seat but what the heck. Seat was painted with Tamuya XF-11 J.N.Green, which is supposed to be close to Dull Dark Green and the cushion was done with Model Air U.S. Flat Brown. Cushion weathered with AK Weathering Pencils. This time I used them wet this time just to be different from the first build. Seat harnesses were pre-bent and painted before I painted the seat. Some touch-ups

Adding some P.E. to the fuselage side but not to much. Pis of that up later
