Thanks guys. Spritzed Vallejo 77.706 White aluminum on the moving surfaces and the bottom. Hard to see in real life so I'll try to get a photo after it dries. Once dry, I'll gloss coat to prevent scratches

Picture taken, not very showy but it did show me one thing that I noticed in my editor. Flaps showed different reflections which means one is out of whack. Sho nuff, I went down and the left was about 2mm higher so some gentle persuasion corrected this. Battery died while correcting so you get the before....

A little lesson I learned while spraying the Vallejo. If you previously used IPA to clean and flush Tamiya out of the AB, make sure you thoroughly flush all the IPA out. Vallejo really, really, really hates IPA

Great looking build, and one on my list as well. Along with Martin Kyburz on FB, and photos I found in the "Bob Hoover" collection in the San Diego Air Museum Archive...we can get a better idea of how this looked. Of interest is the "overnight" bag behind the armor plate. The photo of 025 was traced by Martin and it's final fate in Korea.

Thank you O.D. spritzed

IMG_3237.JPG

I've made about six copies of the decal sheet. My plan is to cut the section out that goes above the exhausts and tape it into position. This will allow me to run a strip of masking tape along the upper edge of the paper to get the correct angle of the O.D.. The checker paint job was not along the thrust line but was at the same angle as the ground line; stupid ground crew. The blank spaces on the sheet are the white checkers in case one wanted to paint the area red. I'll use them in case the red and O.D. show through the decals as I suspect they will

Thanks all. Spritzed Tamiya XF-16 Flat Aluminum, a nice contrast to the Vallejo White Aluminum on the ailerons. I removed the masking on them as the "Future-like" gloss is quite a lot more fluid than old Future and I don't know how it and masking tape would react if it flowed under. I'll replace the masking once I get ready to shoot the fuselage. As suspected, not too confident with the masking on the glare panel. It took quite a bit to get the decal copy to line up with the exhaust slot and even when all was in line, I still had to bend the masking tape ever so slightly
