At numerous times during my 23 years in the U.S.Navy I heard fellow sailors, and some of them very senior enlisted personnel who should have been smarter, remarking how women don't belong in aviation maintenance or the cockpit. Flight lieutenant Goodman is another outstanding example of women in aviation. I wonder how many of the "anti woman in aviation" types would have volunteered to go into that LZ with her?

(For he benefit of our non-UK readers - the UK armed forces are not renowned for handing out medals and decorations willy nilly; DFCs are a bit special). The boys and girls (SH in particular) based in Iraqistan are continuing the finest traditions........
