Goodbye Lynx helicopter

Our navy has used the Lynx since 1978. Last month, the last one left the service. They were great helicopters, we'll miss them.

They'll be replaced by the NH90.

Pity they are out of service now. Sure was a rather common sight seeing an occasional Lynx passing by on SAR duties. Although living up north the AB-412 'Tweety' (which can be seen way in the background of the first pic) was/is a way more regular sight for me. The Lynx sure was an excellent design and somehow rather elegant too! Might be interesting to get the Airfix 1/48 Lynx kit and pair it with a conversion set to turn in into a Dutch Lynx.

I remember seeing them in Europe when I was stationed in the UK. Shame they are all being retired.

The Lynx is as iconic as the UH-1 is for us. Great aircraft. Very fortunate enough to have flown in one.
