I know where they weren't, at the time I was bailing out!

In the one screenshot, you can see one of the engines falling in the background. Also, the Me262A1a/U4 took such a hard hit, the gear dropped.

Heres a couple shots....

Sorry , Homer wasn't Hammered, ( or was HE ? Is hard to tell sometimes?)well at least not in the fighter sense of the word, but after hitting the bridge with upper rudder (note absence of upper rudder, LOL) and dipping front prop in the river, the true need for undercarriage cleaning and replacement is quite obvious.

Funny you'd post some pix of dodging a bridge, I pulled that stunt today with my '110...though I made it through in a little better shape than ol' Homer did!

On the other hand, I hate head-on attacks, really...

This did not end well

I wasn't far from home when I bellied it in, but the posse of I-16s responsible was still close behind and still firing, so I decided to take the easy way out and walk home. BTW, original balance of play was about 14 I-16s I-153s vs. 4 B.239, so I will take the result as a success :) 8)

Hey BombTaxi, not bad!

The old saying "any landing you walk away from, is a good one", pretty much holds true!

If I'm tore up (which I seem to do alot), I'll try and get as far behind my lines as I can. *If* I can make it back to base, better still...though the landing often tends to be kind of ugly...

I was surprised that I did walk away from that one, the approach was slightly worse than crap!

Funny thing, those shots are from a short static campaign I am playing which pits the B-239 against Lend-Lease Hurricanes. I have scored seven kills in 5 missions - all Hurris. I scored 3 kills in a mission twice - I only stopped because I ran out of ammo. But I lasted all of 30 seconds against the I-16s before I was running for home in the state shown above... That is pretty much the opposite of the result I was expecting from the B-239 :!:

well i know that feeling of being hammered down till you are literally down :D.
Mission: bomber escort
kills: 2 yaks
friendly lost: myself ^^ and 3 bombers
i got one kill already and of the 2nd one you can see the smoke but then there was number 3 and he shot my fueltank to pieces, the hood of the engine was comming off, the cockpit was full of oil and holes and i got a huge gap in my rightwing. i got lucky enough to reach the friendly border so that i wouldnt get captured, i lost the plane though.:D

Had to fly escort for a flight of Ju52s during a winter mission. We got bounced hard by a large flight of YaKs that definately weren't rookies...we were out numbered 3 to 1, but we put the hurt on them.

I ended up losing half my section but we drove them off, just in time for another group of enemies to hit us. We took them out, but I lost my wingman in that second brawl.

Fortunately, we were able to make it to our destination without further incident, and good thing too, I didn't have much crate left!

I did not lose a single transport.

Looks like a tough mission.

Sometimes I've done weird things in the game. I'm landed on the ground and then I drive next to building and wack my wings off and then my tail section and try to drive around in that. Pretty fun, but a little unstable.

@grau: thats some nice flying

@soundbreaker: did you ever got that when you land and you do land fine, but when you want to clear the runway and head for the "parkingspaces" left or right of the runway and you dont really follow the paths there?
Well i hadnt follow those paths once and well my plane got banged up pretty hard. Engine inoperable, left landing gear broke off, the plane bounced of the ground and landed upside down.

Now I'll admit, I never learned how to land, but in an emergency I'll make it back to the ground one way or another.
