Thanks Guys
There might be a bit of a delay in further progress as yesterday morning I managed to spill a bowl of freshly made porridge over my left hand resulting in a really bad scald. I was quick to get it under cold water and then an ice pack as a result there's only a small amount of blistering but it still did bring a tear to my eye as it's, excuse the swearing, bloody painful.

Hi Guys
Well the fingers are on the mend and the blisters are going down see the beautiful shot of my finger. I've managed to glue the office together and try a dry fit in the fuselage. All looks to be a good fit and the wing braces will help maintain the correct dihedral once they are fitted. I just pulled the Mig3 off the shelf for a size comparison she's a big bird and living up to her name. Not sure what to do next. Maybe close the fuselage once the side wall are sprayed, make a start on the wheel bays but I'm not sure if they were painted green or yellow zinc chromate so will have to check my references. Then I could spray the prop and spinner, too many choices.

Good stuff Vaughan, and glad to hear the finger is healing. As for the wheel bays, those WW2 colour shots I have show what appears to be yellow ZC, with some being yellow, but with more of a green tinge, but not fully green ZC - if this makes sense? The variation is more likely to be exposure of the original Kodachrome film, and lighting conditions I would think.
I used to have a small piece from the top of the wheel bay, from a crashed P-47, and that was definitely yellow ZC, but of course, it might depend on which factory built the aircraft.

I believe you are spot on with that AF. I am building the F6F and in my checking it seems to be more often than not, YZC was what they were using in most of the wheel wells.

Ah, you can't rely on one colour being universal, as different manufacturers could, and did, use different colours, or even just a clear varnish.
This could even be different in different factories from the same manufacturer, and different again in certain Block numbers, not to mention different shades of the same colour, due to variations in mixing or preparation.
There are only two sure ways to be certain that a particular aircraft had a particular colour in a particular area - 1) If the actual aircraft still survives in it's original finish, and 2) reliable colour photographic evidence of the aircraft at a particular time.
