Me-323 is a bomber?

This aircraft entered service in mid 42, the Me 321 had already been in service for a year by then. They had to resort to using 3 Me 110's to tow a single Me 321 and as you can imagine this lead to some 'interesting' accidents

I also read they tried to augment the tow planes with RATO units. This did not always work well....

I wonder if author David Donald is partly responsible? Seems from the early 80's to the late 90's he ended every entry in books and part-series magazines regarding the Me-323 with this paragraph....

Friedrich George in his book "The Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine" , mentioned the bomb being carried under the right wing.

He also talks about the Me 323Z having been built, but it's not mentioned in any of the books I have that are written on the aircraft.
