Might as well throw my lot into the mix. Heres what I use for references. As for actual modelling techniques, I find this forum has more than enough info - more than any book!

Nice library Chris. I spotted one there I haven't seen since about 1968, 'Rocket Fighter', I think by Mano Ziegler? I remember being very impressed at the time by his descriptive, in depth writing.

Which part of Planet Nutter are these people from? One hundred and seventy five quid for a what, twenty quid book, that the publisher might have back-copies of? Most Osprey books are around £12, with their hard-backs at no more than about £20 - £25. It might be worthwhile looking at somwhere like 'Motor Books' or other specialist dealers who advertise in the aviation/modelling press. How old is it anyway? Osprey normally keep their titles in print as long as there is demand, often for years.

Well, if we are talking "expensive" how about Prien's three volume set "History of JG53?" You'd have to rob a bank to pay for that lot. You've got Mombeek's history of JG2 out now in English at £50-£60 depending on where you shop. Boiten's Nachtjagd Diaries in two volumes at £40 each, shedloads more if you want the signed versions, Japo's "Bf 109 K Camouflage and Markings" at £45 if you can find a copy...it's a farking expensive game an interest in the Luftwaffe!

Yep, it is Max! I understand the cost, as some of even my older books were £30 to £40 when purchased 15 to 20 years ago. But, places that demand a stupidly high price for a book that was originally a third or a quarter of what they are asking just annoy me!
I realise that's the way things are, but it still annoys me!!

Oh, I agree. For an Osprey title I should think £14.99 top whack wouldn't you? That's why the Kagero books are so popular, they may have a habit of "borrowing" other authors work and often have a few factual errors, but they offer great value for money to the collector.

On the other hand, my local Library sells books after a certain time on the shelves. Hard-backed books are only £1. I picked up one a year ago at the Library, which I've since seen advertised, on the second-hand market, for £30.The original retail price, about ten years ago, was £12.99 !

You're dead right there Wayne! I recently got a book from the library, to see what it was like before buying it (no names, no pack-drill!). Thank Heavens I did, as it was very poor, compared to the usual titles from the particular publisher, and would have been a waste of money.

As I have already mentioned I have a copy Focke-Wulf FW 190 (Production Line to Frontline) (Paperback) by Malcolm V. Lowe (Author). But couldn't resist purchasing on ebay another copy for £8 inc P&P.

Current prices on Amazon are £175 to £305 and over $350 US. So as soon as it comes I thought I would list it for the bargain price of £125.

See who's crazy enough to buy it????

:big5:
