    EDIT Was just on this site 676th Squadron - www.444thbg.org and noticed several other bombers had a heart under the mission markings as well

    I thought the same thing about a "purple heart", but never have seen such a thing and frankly wonder why they would memorialize that on the fuselage proper. Not exactly a morale booster.
