Later models (Ki-43-II), like the Ki-43-IIb, often had a single, larger oil cooler located inside the carburetor duct after it was enlarged to accommodate the new cooler.The oil cooler, wrapped around the propeller reduction gear, is clearly visible. This arrangement was totally outdated by 1939
