B25 attack on a harbour, don't know when or where
greetings

Thats Simpson harbor in New Britain, and the town in back is Rabaul.

The B25 is from the 38th BG and the pilot is coming in to skip bomb the ship just to the right of the picture (out of the frame). The ship its passing over had just been hit by a bomb, as you can see by the unsettled water radiating away from the ship.

It looks like foaming water under the B25 is from the rear .50's of the plane that took the picture.

In the background, the 345th BG has hit the town and AAA batteries with a devestating combination of parafrags and "kenny cocktails" (white phosphorus). This BG had the assignment to suppress the AAA, and they sure did a great job.

The 38th BG had the antishipping assignment for that mission.

I cant remember the date of the mission, but its either Nov or Dec 1943.

Jap "Tabby" transport going down in flames,

That transport was shot down by a B24 from the 380th BG. I think it was over the Celebes.

The story was the B24 was on a recon mission, and both planes exited a cloud bank at the same time. The upper turret gunner of the B24 put a perfect burst into the wing root of the tabby.

The Beu shots of smashing German shipping are in the Norwegian fjords. Most of the shots are from Aussie crews the pics are in the Australian archiv's but have been introduced on countless sites on the net over the years. 8)
