I admit that last year on a visit to see my Brother, I went grocery shopping in Chicago and was horrified regarding the price of food. Here in the UK we get a dozen large eggs for £2.70 which I think is approx. $3.50. Pretty much across the board it was scary.My wife was just down in Sydney where 700 gm eggs are $9-20/doz in supermarkets and they are in what is almost certainly an engineered shortage.
We get ours from a neighbour for $4.50/doz. Size is a bit variable but the hens are free to wander all over her 2ha property so are genuine free range instead of what the egg farmers call free range where the law only requires each hen to have a area equivalent to an A4 sheet of paper.
