...the first step I need to take though is shoot a message to Hornby...one of my nacelle halves is missing (came out of a sealed box and sealed plastic bag)

Not technically a purchase of any kind, but props to Hornby and their customer service. Last week I bought an Airfix Fokker Friendship. Turns out one of the engine nacelle halves is missing. So, I mailed Hornby right away and requisted a spare part. A week later a neat small package was delivered containing the requisted spare part.

Sounds like they've got their act together - took nearly three months to get a replacement part last time I asked. Maybe they have a new management team ....

started liking the PA-28-140, so I bought this bird last week got her in the mail, today. LOL forgot that Minicraft's GA planes don't have locking pins so I'd have to be very careful to align everything PERFECTLY

thanks, fellas. it's one of 3 GA aircraft I hope to own, one day. the other two being a Cessna 172, and a De Havilland Beaver Amphibian :)

Nice one Rob. I used to get to fly a Cherokee once, and also a '172 now and again. Really liked the Cherokee, did quite a few hours in an old '140, and a few hours in a Arrow - nice, stable ride and easy handling.

looking at the kit, I'd say it's a Cherokee 150. the 140 (according to wikipedia) has 2 seats, the 150 has 4 seats

The 140 had four seats also Rob, although it might have started out as a twin seat. Far as I remember, the number was the engine designation.

Flew a Cherokee from Livermore CA to Eugene Oregon and back once. Nice flying plane.
I would rather have a Cessna 206, with gap seals and, STOL leading edges and tundra tires.
Carry all the gear And the beer wherever you would want to go!

Got to fly a 172 and 182 myself, plus a Victa Airtourer. (Not a qualified pilot , but can fly small aircraft VFR. Would be great to train fully one day...)

Nice score Rob!

nice score, B-17!

@ Terry, I believe all Cherokees/warrior/archers had the Lycoming IO-320

You're almost right Rob. The engine was available in different Horse Power, from 140hp to 180 hp. The first Cherokee version was the PA-28 Cherokee 150, with the 150 hp Lycoming 0-320-A2A, whilst the Cherokee 160 had the 160hp 0-320-D2A, and the 180 the 0-360-A2A, 180 hp.
The PA-28-140 was originally released as a two seat trainer, with the Lycoming 140hp 0-320-A2B engine, but was later offered as a four seater, as the PA28-140-4, in 1965, with the 0-320 uprated to 150hp.
Warrior and Warrior II had the 0-320-D3G, Archer/Archer II had the 0-360-A4M, and the Arrow had the IO-360-C1C at 200hp.
I got to fly the Arrow, and before that, a 1966 or 1967 Cherokee 140-4, which was then about 21 or 22 years old. And it definitely had four seats, as my girlfriend and I slept in the back of it !

nice bit of info there, Terry. as much into commercial airliners as I am, GA aircraft hold a special place in my heart, as they're (in my opinion, and in a way) flying cars, even though they're purely aircraft. because when I've flown in them, I actually FELT like I was in a flying car. before my first flight in a GA plane (a Cessna 150) in 2008, I had only flown in commercial airliners, mainly narrowbodies, and only one or two widebodies (my first time flying was actually in a 747, but it's debatable whether it was TWA or Northwest). and flying in that Cessna 150 was an experience I'll never forget, that and my first flights in a vintage biplane (Travel Air 4000 American Barnstormers Tour) and a helicopter (Wilson Construction's MD500E with a VERY talented pilot) I'll never forget either one.

Nice haul mate! Have you established the origins of the Spit XVI we talked about? Saw the box art (as shown above) on Model Hobbies web site, and thought perhaps it was the ICM kit, just going off the engine. BTW, what's the Academy '109G-6 like, and does it have the cannon gondolas?
