George, I'm not that up on P-38 sub models but for some reason I think the difference in the P-400 was the gun. I have a copy it the Detail Scale book somewhere and I'm sure the answer will be in there somewhere. I'll dig it out and have a look tomorrow.

I went to Squadrons website last week for some paint and there was a big clearance sale going on so naturally I bought way too many kits which arrived today. The only ones I've opened up so far are the H-16 and the DC-6. The H.12 is way smaller than I thought it would be and the DC-6 way larger. What a monster, the fuselage looks bigger than a 1/48th B-24!

Bought it as well, many blue moons ago, massive it is indeed!
Would buy the Curtiss, just for the box art, I love the Chrysler Building, got to be the best looking of all sky scrapers!

Seeing that, I got these two....

Plus these two Texans/Harvards, for just slightly over what one single '88 cost, I think that I did not bad....

Now I can finally do an early (A/yellow) and a later (B/green) Swedish Sk16....

have never built a ship, but I had to get this just for the fact i will need something to do in my twilight years. Also ordered the build-up stuff. I just signed my own death warrant.

Mate, I understand your point of the view. And honestly don't insist on making every rivet count. However there is not too many modellers just like you who prefers making parts from scratch to buying these expensive extra aftermarket parts. The entire rest of them preferes all this photo-etch and resin stuff because they don't have either a spare time for scratch-building or abilities. Or neither this nor that. In the case buying of a such kit can cause nothing but trouble with the extra purchases. And this should be taken into consideration as well. And it was the reason for paying attention to the aspect of trading.

For me of late Wojtek its been OOB unless the scale lets my eyes play and that's 1/32 and bigger.I think this has come about also to the lack of quality time to invest on one would hope daily(3-4 days a week) at 1-2 hr intervals has turned into weekly alot of times.I have also noticed in myself reverting back to alot of 1/72 scale kits for I feel the need to upgrade the bigger guys but just no time.I have on the table a B-25 PTO 85% done and have started a Potez 633AB-2 to be covered in Romanian markings both 1/72.I am for my own reasons just cannot justify buying more kits and thinking will I ever build them?

Good stuff chaps. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Javelin Karl - really tempted to get one! I see another visit to Newark air Museum on the cards, for detail photos !!
