Good ones Terry.

So my recent "odds and sods" started with the fact that I needed some resin wheels for my Lightning. Always loathe to pay $15 shipping on a $10 item, I decided to stuff my order to make the shipping more palatable. So I checked out Sprue Brothers offer to throw in a free Warbirds calendar on orders over $75 and began loading my basket with stuff I needed for the long run and also some wish list items. Long story short, addition of the calendar, by itself, increased the shipping cost by more than the value of the calendar!!! After murmuring a distinct "f!ck that!" under my breath, I settled on the below items.

The Topcolour FW190 booklets contain Cartograph decals in 3 scales for 8 different schemes in each book. The Scharnhorst book will come in handy when I get to my build. In addition, I got two sets of TAF PE seatbelts, one early and one late, and then there's the resin wheel set.

I finally got the Humbrol Clear - and some sable brushes.
Let's hope the Clear works as advertised, and I can finally dump forever that bl**dy awful 'new version' of Johnson's 'Pledge with Klear' which, despite what you may have heard, read or seen, is NOT the same as the original Klear/Future.
I ordered the sable brushes on-line, from the description, photo and quoted sizes, but someone has an odd way of setting the brush sizes these days, as the No2 is about equal to a '0', and the No4 to a No2 !!
And they're bl**dy pointed tip - seems the traditional, more rounded style brushes have disappeared from the face of the planet !

It's their new (since January 2013 !) acrylic gloss varnish, very like Johnson's 'Klear' / 'Future', in as much as it's very thin, crystal clear, where a little goes a long way, and is 'self-leveling', and can be used for 'dipping' clear parts as well.
I only found out about it a couple of weeks ago, so checked it out on the Humbrol web-site, as I'd previously thought it was just a larger bottle of the old enamel gloss varnish. From what I understand from the video on the web site, unlike 'Klear' / 'Future', it is a 'proper' acrylic varnish formulated for modelling use, with UV protection to prevent 'yellowing' with age.
It can be applied by brush, or by airbrush without thinning, and I presume that, with the addition of something like Tamiya Flat Base or similar, it can be mixed to create anything from semi-gloss to a full matt, which I'll test in the next day or so.
However, the web-site also shows a satin and a matt version, labelled as 'Coming soon'.
I've done a very brief test to seal the decals on the gloss white wing of the Starfighter, applied by brush, and it looks OK, although it takes longer to fully dry (about 30 minutes or more) than 'Future'.
I've yet to test it on the 'bare metal' finish, but I'll only be sealing around the decals in these areas, and not coating all of the 'metal' finish.

Nice scores Terry - may try that Humbrol Clear myself if you think it's good.

My latest:

Handley Page HP.67 Hastings C.Mk.I !!!! (Forma Plane 1:72)

Extremely rare, and not at all cheap, but essential for my RNZAF collection! So glad to have finally secured one. (Will be converted to an HP.95 C.Mk.3)

It certainly is, as it actually dissolves Hippocroccofrogs !

Nice catch there Evan, and should make into an impressive model. I've tried the Clear on a small area, and it seems to do the trick. I've yet to try it over a 'bare metal' surface, although in practice I'd only do this on decalled areas, to seal the decal.
