Thanks to our Evan i will be able to add this as my last entry to the fav aircraft of all time G.B ,if anyone can help with anymore detailed pics etc,i would be very greatful,

all the best

bob

Evan saves the day,all the parts missing from my sunderland kit have just arrived thanks to Evan so i can now start my last G.B entry once i've finished the rigging on the shark

i don't think i'm going to get the sunderland started and built in time for this GB as the detailing kits are out of stock for another couple of weeks, they said they will ring me when they are back in,i might just finish what i have already entered and see what time i have left before adding anything else, never mind

not that i've got much time at the moment to do anything but work but the detailing parts for this build are now in and on there way to me,hopefully i can make a start soon after the wedding season finishes, thanks again chaps for all the info

Sounds good Bob. Just noticed that Italeri seem to have a 1/72nd scale Sunderland in the offing - no news or details, I just spotted the bottom section of a a picture from their advertising when looking at another of their kits.

Neat pictures T Bolt/Glenn, although that cutaway os a Short Solent; note the passenger seats on the rear upper deck!

Good luck with your modelling projects, guys and while we are on the subject, I hope these are of some use to you all.

These images are of the Sundy undergoing restoration in Auckland NZ:

What's remarkable is that the Sundy served with the RNZAF until 1965.

If you are interested I can post some more of the Solent, although it's a little irrelevant on this forum.

anything you can get on the sunderland would be great as i'm going to attempt a fully scaled model including the interior as a project to improve my build skills,i wanted to do this for a g.b but the parts didn't arrive in time

the detailing sets for the sunderland arrived this morning along with a list of others that they do for all scales plus a list of rare and resin kits they have in stock,my bank accounts going to take a hammering

I didn;t understand the gun postion shown there. Where would the gun go, in a little hole below the portal? Was this a late-war gun position? I think the earlier Sunderlands without dorsal turret had the two waist guns-- ok, beam guns-- up on top of the fuselage, didn't they? So what mark of Sunderland is this one in NZ, and how was it armed? Also, what was the service history of this one?
