I used to do some 3D modelling. This is a late 60's Porsche 908 sports prototype racer. I originally created it as a Solidworks model with the intention of building a full size replica. I reverse engineered the tubular framed body and suspension as engineering drawings too. I was going to power it with a Lexus quad cam V-8 ( I bought the whole car for £150 :D ) - Porsche flat-8 engines are crazy money, even a flat-6 is barely affordable for a peasant like me.
But we emigrated instead...
It wasn't too crazy a project, my neighbour and friend was a sailboat and classic car nut who could have built the glassfibre bodywork and I could have made the tubular chassis.
Then I revived it as a virtual 908 for a PC car racing sim, which is why you see it here as a 3D Studio model, rather than Solidworks.
I lost all of the files in a disk crash though :( I am sticking to pencil and paper from now on...
