I've been building bridges for 34 years and this is the biggest one I've ever worked on. It will be another 3 years before the project is completely finished so it might be the last bridge I ever build.

We had a monster crane come on the project yesterday to take down concrete beams from the old bridge.
Its a 550-ton Grove GMK 7550 with Mega Wing Lift. The boom is 132' long and the counter weights alone weigh 352,700 lbs.. Took the better part of the day just to assemble it using the smaller crane in the first and last pictures.

There were 10 operators here to assemble and run those 2 cranes and it took 8 semi-trucks to bring in the counterweights and other parts.

Not much room to swing the boom there. Impressive crane. I've seen some big ones in my career as well, especially with tandem lifts for large pressure vessels like this one on the last project I was on. NW Redwater Sturgeon Refinery EPFC - Fluor

Here's a project I was busy with over the weekend. Not sure what you would call it but it will be used to pull my boat out of the water when I will not be using it for more than a few days. It is essentially a elongated fixed boat trailer with no wheels that will be located with one end in the water. It's my own design with the roller locations dimensioned off my boat's trailer. The main portion is a beam made from two pressure treated 18' 2x10s bolted together with a double 2x8 cross beam.
It turned out to be a lot more work to build it than I thought it would be when I made up the design a year ago but it is now about 90% complete and will be finished and put in place the next time I'm up at the lake.
