This is just wrong.

Judge Rules Teen Must Get Cancer Treatments - Children's Health - FOXNews.com

I wonder how many people are going to use this as an excuse to attack religion in general?

(in case the link gets moved)

I wish people would stop falling for all those magical natural remedies and start trusting abit more in medical science. I have seen many similar cases to this before.

The kid isn't old enough to decide for himself for something that grave , I believe the state is correct it may seem like the state is infringing on his rights but i think they are looking out for his welfare and his parents should be charged with child endangerment

I think this case could be a slippery slope, but I have to question the parents saying their 13 year old son (who has a learning disability and cannot read) has a right to chose which method of treatment. I am trying to understand how they could follow both Catholicism and Nemenhah and it really does not make sense to me.

If nothing else, this proves in some cases being an idiot can be genetic. The parents need to start being parents.

I find it disturbing that the parents didn't force him to undergo proven medical treatment. Either it is because of blind faith, idiocy or something sinister.

Some people are just disenfranchised from reality. Common sense isn't as common as the expression implies.

Agree with Sweb. Who's to say that God didn't provide the understanding and insight to countless doctors and pharmacists over the years that eventually led to the medical breakthroughs we have now for fighting cancer? Turning your back on medicine is kinda like refusing to get into the lifeboat because God will save you......yes, He will, by sending you a friggin lifeboat!

I guess the dad is agreeing with the courts and says his son should get treatment. Before he showed up to court I guess his wife and son were just gone, and she left her cell phone at the house. I don't have source as I think i saw it on Headline News on TV.

They should both be charged (Dad with a lesser sentence, since he's had a change of heart and is apparently cooperating with authorities now). The cancer was highly treatable. Refusing to treat is, in essence, killing their son.
