It was for a while. I liked going to Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips when I was in high school. We called it "Arthur's creatures".
I occasionally see it on menus but I don't really care for seafood. To me it tastes the way low tide at the harbor smells on a really hot day. I'm from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn originally.

Yeah. It is quite common.

We ruin it, though, by serving it with tarter sauce instead of malt vinegar in most cases. lol

But yeah, it is quite common in pubs and breweries.

It tends to be more popular the closer to the coast (east and west) you get.

Out here in the West, Fish & Chips is definately regular fare.

To me it ruins the flavor of the fish. Malt vinegar is the way to go.
