Thanks very much chaps.
We're intending to do a more "in depth" look at some of the battlefield sites in the British and Canadian sector that we briefly looked at last year, and will be mainly (but not exclusively) focusing on the route, and actions, of the armour of the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry and the 50th (Tyne Tees) Infantry Division, along with the counter attacks of 21st Panzer Division and Panzer Lehr. This will start at Gold beach, at Asnelles (pronounced Ahnell), then head towards Bayeux, and inland to the south and east, via Tilly sur Suelles, Villers Bocage and Falaise.
This time, we will also visit at least two or three D Day museums in the American sector, around Omaha beach and St. Mere Eglise, together with what appear to be interesting collections at Rots, Caen and elsewhere.
A more detailed, but fairly brief study of the area covered by the British 6th Airborne Division will also be undertaken, covering the DZs/LZs and the fighting in and around Benouville and Ranville, and as our ferry arrival on Sunday is mid afternoon, and just about 15 minutes from our hotel, and we don't depart until the following Saturday morning, we're confident that we can cover much more than in last year's visit, now that we have at least a little knowledge and experience of the Calvados region and travel times etc.
We have yet to finalise a "working" itinerary, but we'll have six hours to kill whilst crossing "La Manche", so it shouldn't be a problem. If time allows, we may visit the vast tank museum at Saumur, Musee des Blindes, although as it's over a three hour drive each way, we'll have to see how things pan out.
If any member would like photographs of specific subjects, please let me know by June 17th at the latest, and I'll do my best to accommodate such requests wherever possible.

Just finalising the last few bits and pieces for our trip, ready to pack tomorrow and Wednesday, then set off for the "Tin Tent" in Norfolk on Thursday.
Karl will arrive on Friday evening, then we depart on Saturday morning for the Tank Museum at Bovington, Dorset, UK, where we'll meet-up with our friends Max and Barbara for a look around the museum. We'll then continue to our hotel in Portsmouth on Saturday evening, ready to catch the 08.00 hrs ferry for Ouistreham (Caen), Normandy, on Sunday morning, arriving at 15.00 hrs local time.
I'll be off-line during our time in France (although Karl will probably post some up-dates), but hope to have 'net connection after our return on 27th June, when I'll be staying at the "Tin Tent" for a further week, as some friends will be visiting in their campervans after the British Grand Prix the following weekend.
I'll be starting the "Travelogue" and posting pics once I return home around 7th or 8th of July.
So final reminder for anyone wanting pics of specific places/subjects - let me know via PM or email by Wednesday, 17th June latest, and I'll try to accommodate any requests.

Looks like well be starting our travels on the same day Terry. Were off to Kyneton , Victoria for a 70th birthday celebration. It's close to 400 miles and being old folk well well have a night stop on the way. The distance s about the same as your Norfolk to Caen trip. Anyway, safe travels and have fun.
